In
Port St. Lucie, FL, Sheriff’s deputies busted a
methamphetamine lab Tuesday. The lab was located in a shed behind a home that belonged to 25-year-old Sergiy Matirniy. The case began when employees at a pool supply store notified police of a man attempting to make suspicious purchases.
The men working in the pool supply store asked Matirniy why he needed the chemicals and he said he was trying to create chloroform. After refusing to sell him the chemicals, the store employees notified police.
Police arrived on the scene and searched Matirniy’s vehicle. They found materials that raised a red flag including wires, zip-ties, and electronic devices. Suspicious of what they found, police requested a search warrant for Matirniy’s home.
Police then discovered the meth lab and evacuated the neighborhood. A U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration team was called to remove the volatile chemicals from the operation.
