Actor Michael Brea Kills Mother with Sword

brea-crime-scene_180x120-150x120According to multiple news reports, Michael Brea, a former actor that appeared on “Ugly Betty” and this summer’s “Step Up 3D,” has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He is accused of killing his mother with a 3-foot-sword.

Brea was convinced his mother was possessed by Satan, according to police reports. Neighbors reported hearing screams of “Repent, repent, sinner, sinner!” and “You never accepted Jesus!”

It was the neighbors who called the police early Tuesday morning. One neighbor who called the authorities stated:

“I heard him chasing her through the house and I hear a loud scream, and so I have my father call the cops, call 911.”

“His poor mother must have been terrified, and the cops just stood a few feet away,” one of several residents said who vainly begged police to burst inside. Neighbors said the cops stood outside the door for close to an hour – and even left the scene at one point – before finally entering.

Once the officers finally opened the door, they encountered a gruesome scene – the butchered body of Brea’s mother inside a blood-spattered bathroom with multiple gashes to her head.

Brea was reported to be clutching a bible and a sword (said to be a Masonic ceremonial sword). The actor was aggressive and had to be Tasered. He was then placed on a stretcher and brought to Kings County Hospital for a psychological evaluation.

Criminal Possession of Weapons

Improper exhibition of a weapon can be a serious offense that may end up with a mandatory prison sentence of at least three years. The case is much worse if the use of the weapon results in the injury or death of another person.

The only way to see the light at the end of this very dark tunnel would be to enlist the help of a criminal defense attorney. Once a crime of this magnitude has been committed, a criminal defense lawyer is the only chance you have for a shot at a normal life.
