For
drug dealers, the method of distribution is a key component to whether or not they are caught by law enforcement officers.
Marijuana is such a diverse drug that it can be cooked into several concoctions that often slip right past law enforcement and into the drug market.
According to an article in MSNBC Miami, a
drug dealer has been selling
Marijuana to South Miami high school students in the form of individual chocolate flavored cupcakes wrapped in tin foil for about $10 each.
The baker/drug dealer was
arrested Friday during a sting that caught 11 suspects. $6,000 worth of hydroponic
Marijuana, along with the several more cupcakes, was confiscated. According to the South Miami police, it remains unclear if the man was baking the cupcakes himself or if he was simply purchasing the
Marijuana and had someone else was baking it into tasty treats.
The pot chef is facing a
felony charge of
possession of marijuana and
drug trafficking.
Marijuana Methods of Distribution
Because
Marijuana is a hydroponic – and therefore more potent and aromatic – drug, it can be distributed in several, creative different forms. Pot brownies have forever been a popular method of distribution for recreational drug users.
Using various forms of distribution like pot cupcakes, are ways for drug dealers to avoid detection, because the only way to tell is by eating them.
Marijuana Florida Law
According to Florida Statute 893.13, possession of
Marijuana is a third-degree felony. However, this charge can vary – if the amount in
possession is less than 20 grams, it is a first degree misdemeanor. If the amount is more than 25 pounds, you will be charged with
trafficking (a first degree felony). Selling is considered a third degree felony unless the amount in possession is less than 20 grams (again, a first degree misdemeanor).
If you have been charged with
possession and
trafficking of more than 25 pounds of Marijuana (but less than 2,000 pounds), you are facing a mandatory sentence of 3 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
Marijuana Criminal Defense
If you have been
charged with possession of marijuana or
drug trafficking, you need a
criminal defense lawyer’s help immediately. Having a
criminal defense lawyer on your side is your only chance to lower your charges because Florida law is giving no mercy in cracking down on any
drug crimes. A
criminal defense lawyer may be your only hope if you’ve been
arrested.
