A registered nurse in Royal Palm allegedly filled numerous fraudulent prescriptions for herself and her husband using the signature of a doctor who once employed her.
In all, deputies say Heather Carmichael duped the pharmacies out of six pounds of pills in two months.
Carmichael, 42, now stands charged with drug trafficking. According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report:
On Aug. 1, Dr. Christopher Devine, of Wellington, got a visit from Lawrence Deyoung, pharmacy manager of a Royal Palm Walgreens.
Sitting in Devine’s office, Deyoung pulled out a woman’s Oxycodone prescription he had rejected earlier in the day.
