A Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office SWAT unit found a marijuana grow house at a home in suburban Delray Beach this morning, according to a PBSO spokesman. Police obtained a search warrant for a home at 15180 Monroe Road, where they found the marijuana plants. The home was unoccupied when police executed the search warrant. No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing, said PBSO spokesman Eric Davis. A man in search of a better life in the United States is now facing federal jail time after he was caught smuggling in cocaine, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration. Lephaine J. Charles was taken into custody around 1 a.m. Tuesday after Juno Beach and Jupiter police agencies were called to investigate a boat that washed ashore. An exact location of where the boat was found was not given in a DEA criminal complaint. Also arrested was Rick Davis, a Bahamian national, who faces immigration charges. A 50-year-old man was arrested at Palm Beach International Airport this week after he allegedly tried going through security carrying hundreds of prescription pills he stole from his mother. Steven C. Kerner, of Selden, N.Y., was arrested at the airport around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday on several charges, including trafficking in hydrocodone and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the airport and spoke with Kerner. He told deputies that he stole the medicine from his mother, a Lake Worth resident, who takes the pills for “severe” medical conditions, according to a probable cause affidavit. A suburban Palm Beach Gardens man is in jail after a welfare check at his home found he was growing marijuana there, police said. Ryan E. Delanenuville, 37, was arrested Thursday on allegations of manufacturing cannabis, possession of marijuana and possessing a dwelling to manufacture a controlled substance. The deputy walked around the house and looked in windows for signs of distress or injury. The deputy saw cannabis plants growing in red cups under a red-and-blue lighting system, according to a probable-cause arrest affidavit. A second deputy responded and confirmed they were cannabis plants. The deputies got a search warrant and went into the home. Marijuana Grow House Found In West Palm Beach

A 32-year-old suburban West Palm Beach man is being accused of turning his home into a marijuana-manufacturing plant after authorities found almost 30 plants growing in three separate rooms. Alexei Garcia was arrested Friday on charges of manufacturing cannabis, trafficking in cannabis and possession of a dwelling to manufacture controlled substances. He was released Saturday after posting a $13,000 bond. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s SWAT team executed a search warrant Friday at Garcia’s home in suburban West Palm Beach on Carambola Road north of Forest Hill Boulevard. OAKLAND PARK, Fla. — A Broward sheriff’s deputy has been arrested for possessing a controlled substance. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs and the Public Corruption Task Force arrested 45-year-old John Brindle on Friday on one count of possession of a controlled substance. A sheriff’s office statement says investigators received a tip that Brindle was purchasing oxycodone pills without a prescription in Oakland Park. Detectives conducted surveillance and later arrested him after he purchased the pills. He is currently suspended with pay pending prosecution by the State Attorney’s Office. After federal agents received a call on their tip line from a concerned pharmacist reporting suspicious prescriptions, federal agents went to work, eventually identifying 45 South Florida residents allegedly responsible for lining the streets with prescription pills and selling them for at least $20 a pop. Seventeen of those named in the indictment, which is being prosecuted by the Palm Beach County State’s Attorney’s Office, were arrested Thursday throughout the county. A Boynton Beach man is facing drug charges after authorities alleged that he used a tow truck business to transport large quantities of cocaine from Texas. Joel R. Hinojosa, 37, was arrested Wednesday on allegations of operating a criminal organization, trafficking in cocaine and sale of cocaine. He remains in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, jail record showed. Police allege that Hinojosa has operated the criminal enterprise since about November 2010. A confidential source told investigators from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Delray Beach Police Department that Hinojosa owns and operates a landscaping business and tow trucking companies in South Florida.
