According to an article in WPTV news, five men were taken into custody early Sunday in West Palm Beach. The men came ashore on a boat and were arrested at about 6:00 a.m. Authorities say a Palm Beach Police Officer saw a man walking barefoot by the beach. The officer stopped him for questioning and later found 4 other men. Police say they suspect the men are from Turkey and the Bahamas. Their boat was found in the 1400 block on North Ocean Boulevard. All of the men are in federal custody. One of the men was arrested for marijuana possession. Police and border patrol agents are still on the scene investigating. According to Victoria Price, a WPTV News Channel 5 reporter, seven Haitian immigrants were dropped off on a Manalapan beach Thursday evening. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Border Patrol are continuing to search on foot and by helicopter for up to five more immigrants. Of the seven people taken into custody, two were infants. Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue medics transported the two infants and the five adults to Bethesda Memorial Hospital to be evaluated. Immigration by Boat Haitians and Cubans have upgraded their mode of transportation to come to South Florida beaches.
