How Men With Criminal Records Have Been Running Palm Beach Summer Camps

According to an article in the Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach County unknowingly paid convicted child molesters, thieves, drug dealers, and others with criminal records nearly half a million dollars to run summer camps for homeless and foster children within the past three years. As these people with extensive criminal records began opening camps, no one was required, or even asked, to pass background checks, a Palm Beach Post investigation has found. Palm Beach County Division of Human Services provides about $1.2 million ever summer to subsidize camp tuition for the county’s poorest children. The Palm Beach Post conducted an investigation screening 101 private summer camp companies most recently approved to receive county money. Incidents where police officers abuse the power they are trusted with are continually recurring. Police Criminal Mischief in West Palm Beach Two police officers were arrested in Jupiter and charged with vandalizing two cars in a Jupiter parking garage. The two officers, Christopher Clark and Timothy Pike, were arrested after a drunken night on the town. Police were called around 2:30 a.m. from witnesses who were under the suspicion that cars were being burglarized in the parking garage on Edna Hibel Drive, according to police spokesman Sgt. 20-year-old Francisco Henry appeared in front of a Palm Beach County judge yesterday, March 4th. He is accused of committing a vicious sex crime in Delray Beach, Florida, two weeks ago. Andrew Stine, the prominent West Palm Beach criminal defense attorney, is representing Mr. Henry and claims his client is innocent. The crime occurred on Thursday. February 18th. According to police, Francisco Henry and Spencer Britt, 17, robbed four teenagers who were playing cards in an abandoned house at gunpoint. MySpace Molester Arrested In West Palm Beach, Florida

A 24-year old man, Jeremy William Sherrill, was arrested last week by authorities and charged with luring women from MySpace and then sexually attacking them. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department, a man named “Joaquin” contacted a woman on MySpace and offered her employment. The 21-year-old woman said “Joaquin” asked her to meet him after 11:30 PM. The woman said that was unprofessional but “Joaquin” needed someone to start working immediately and he had to go to Fort Lauderdale the next morning. The woman agreed to meet him to discuss the job opening. Instead, the man drove her to a secluded spot and ordered her to perform sex acts.
