Jury selection begins today for former WPTV weatherman Rob Lopicola, facing juvenile sex charges. In July 2012, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Krista Marx set Lopicola’s bail at $130,000 and ordered he have no contact with the alleged victims in the case or anyone under the age of 18. She also ordered he have no access to the Internet or possess any device that allows him access to the Internet. The former WPTV Channel 5 weekend meteorologist faces charges including sexual activity with minors, lewd and lascivious battery, computer pornography and child exploitation. The charges stem from separate and multiple encounters Lopicola is accused of having with two teenagers between August 2010 and April 2011 after meeting them through Craigslist ads. A Lake Park man was arrested Saturday on charges he broke into a Riviera Beach home earlier in the week and sexually assaulted a woman. Police received reports that Clayton Phillips, 33, broke into the home Wednesday evening and attacked the woman, Riviera Beach police spokeswoman Rose Anne Brown said Sunday. U.S. marshals found him at another address Saturday and turned him over to detectives, she said. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail Saturday on multiple counts of sexual assault, home invasion with a weapon, kidnapping/false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a weapon and several other charges, according to the sheriff’s website. Charged With Attempting To Engage Minor in Sex

A 28-year-old Canadian who told who he thought was a 15-year-old boy that he was new in town from Canada is now new in the Palm Beach County Jail. Jonathan R. Vanstone, of Wellington, faces a federal charge of attempted enticement or inducement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual conduct. Through the Internet application Grindr, Vanstone messaged an undercover law enforcement officer acting as a 15-year-old boy on four different occasions, according to agents with Homeland Security Investigations. On March 13, the officer responded for the first time to Vanstone’s messages who was using a screen name “Here’s Johnny,” according to a federal criminal complaint.
