South Florida Continues to be a Hot Spot for Armed Robberies

According to an article in the Palm Beach Post, two men and a juvenile stormed a barbershop, wearing masks and waving guns, and robbed its employees and patrons, police said. The robbery is just one more on the list of increasing robberies in South Florida. A police log entry says that, about 7 p.m. Friday, three men came into the Phat Headz barbershop at 1550 N. Federal Highway. They took wallets from several patrons and took cash from the business before running out, the log entry said. Police say the three fled in a car that had been carjacked on Nov. 16 in Lake Worth but were caught a short time later. Hiccup Girl Charged with Murder After Robbery Gone Wrong

Jennifer Ann Mee, 19, was once known as “Hiccup Girl.” Now, she is transcending her reputation as the girl who couldn’t stop hiccupping to the girl who lured a 22-year-old man into a trap that ultimately led to his murder. Mee admitted luring the victim, Shannon Griffin, to a house across from her apartment building. St. Petersburg Police Chief said Monday that Mee met Griffin through a website recently, and planned with her friends Laron Raiford, 20, and Lamont Newtown, 22, to rob him at gunpoint. The robbery went seriously wrong when Griffin struggled during the robbery, and was then shot several times. He died at the scene. Less than $50 was stolen from Griffin. According to an Associated Press article included in WPTV News Channel 5 this morning, a Boynton Beach man has been arrested by police on second-degree murder charges. Greg B. Senser 29, and Jason F. Barnett had been drinking heavily at the 1st and 10 sports bar around 1 a.m. Sunday. The two left for the La Costa apartments, Barnett was heading to see his child’s mother. At the apartment complex, everything went wrong when police say the two men began to fight and Senser stabbed Barnett several times in the neck. On March 21, 2010 in California, the death of Taylor Powell at the hands of mixed martial arts fighter Jarrod Wyatt turned out to be one of the most bizarre and gruesome murder cases of the year. Wyatt, 26, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity after consulting medical experts. He was charged with murder, aggravated mayhem, and torture. Wyatt allegedly ripped out the heart and cut off the tongue and face of his sparring partner Powell, 21 – reportedly while Powell was still alive, according to the Coroner.
