According to WPTV News, a man who attempted to board a plane with a pistol in his fanny pack is in the custody of Metro Dade Police. According to the arresting officer, Juan Manuel Baldoquin was stopped by TSA security Thursday after a screener spotted a pistol in Baldoquin’s fanny pack. Baldoquin told investigators “That is my firearm. I honestly forgot that I was carrying thefirearm.” A records check on the pistol showed it listed as stolen back on March 8, 1996 in West Palm Beach. According to an article in WPTV news, five men were taken into custody early Sunday in West Palm Beach. The men came ashore on a boat and were arrested at about 6:00 a.m. Authorities say a Palm Beach Police Officer saw a man walking barefoot by the beach. The officer stopped him for questioning and later found 4 other men. Police say they suspect the men are from Turkey and the Bahamas. Their boat was found in the 1400 block on North Ocean Boulevard. According to WPTV News Channel 5, Palm Beach County Commissioner John “Jeff” Koons was arrested Tuesday and charged with extortion, perjury (when not in official proceeding), and violation of Florida’s Sunshine Law. Koons, a Democrat, has been pushing the South Cove project. The South Cove project is a waterfront environmental project in the Lake Worth Lagoon. The project includes the creation of a manmade island located just east of Flagler Drive to ignite healthy marine life, and the construction of an elevated boardwalk connecting to Flagler Drive, according to the probable cause affidavit.
