organized-scheme-to-defraud_180x120There has been a huge public corruption sweep of Palm Beach County. The investigations of Chaz Equipment Co. are concluding as prosecutors say Chaz perused workers from nine local governments with extensive gifts like hunting trips, NASCAR excursions, pricey jewelry, and expensive gift cards.

The company allegedly received at least $73 million over a decade in public water and sewer business, according to a Palm Beach Post analysis.

According to the Palm Beach post, there are 77 criminal accounts including bribery and racketeering charges. The five Chaz employees (including owner Gary Czajkowski) and eight government workers are currently under investigation as there is no clear line linking exactly what Chaz distributed or received, or even what kind of work Chaz may have received based on the gifts given.

However, Palm Beach County has been inevitably labeled as “Corruption County,” and the criminal charges against Chaz Equipment and the government workers associated is just adding to the list of corruption.

The Palm Beach Post reported that they found that West Palm Beach paid Chaz Equipment $30 million between 2004 and 2010. In Wellington, where a former worker also was charged, and Chaz’s contracts added up to $4.7 million.

Gary Czajkowski has plead not guilty to all charges, as according to his criminal defense attorney, Douglas Duncan.
