How Serious is the Law Against Possession of Child Pornography?
According to an article in the Palm Beach Post, a 27-year-old Lake Worth man is facing charges for possession of child pornography, according to Palm Beach County State Attorney Michael McAuliffe.
The Palm Beach County Sexual Predator Enforcement Unit announced that Odson Francois was arrested at his home on Wednesday. Detectives reported finding, on Francois’ home computer, images and videos showing children involved in sex acts. The investigative report states a forensic review revealed 14 of the 20 downloaded files were videos.
In a recorded police statement, Francois indicated he downloaded the pornography containing images of children, that he knew it was wrong and that he was sorry, according to the police report.
He was tracked down by detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children task force, which first traced his Internet Protocol address in July, the report said.
Francois is facing 10 counts for possession of sexual performance by a child, punishable by a maximum of five years in prison for each count. Bond was set at $50,000 with the special conditions of no access to computers or the Internet and no contact with children.
