How Weapons Charges Can Ruin Your Life

1The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has been very busy lately as Florida’s rate of illegal weapons possession is on the rise. According to an article in WPTV News, what was supposed to be a routine traffic stop turned into a serious manhunt Tuesday afternoon in Palm Beach County.

Deputies attempted to pull over a car traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then crashed and the three men in the car got out and escaped on foot. The men were immediately pursued and deputies found various stolen goods and weapons inside of the vehicle they abandoned.

All three suspects have been caught as of Tuesday night and have been taken into custody by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Criminal Defense

This crime could result in several different charges. The men could be charged with their traffic violations, resisting arrest, illegal possession of weapons, petit theft and maybe even grand theft. We won’t know until the charges have been released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Even just a weapons charge can result in serious consequences for these three men. In Florida, you could get three years for just a minimal weapons charge. It will add onto your criminal record, which can prevent you from living a normal life for the rest of your life. Employers, landlords, and many industries want nothing to do with someone who is burdened with a criminal record.

If you have ever been charged with a crime relating to weapons, you may be able to resolve your case without a criminal record if your criminal defense lawyer has you immediately perform community service, complete a weapons class, and if in your case there was a victim – apologize to that victim.

If are facing weapons charges, be sure to contact a criminal defense lawyer, it might be your only shot at a normal life.
