Palm Beach County Law Enforcement is looking into using a new form of technology that may actually decrease the crime rate. Several other counties across the nation are adopting the use of “predictive policing,” a technology that collects and analyzes statistical data that supposedly gives police the ability to predict a potential crime scene. The use of this technology may have a dramatic impact on arrests, but it may also cause problems because technology may not always be reliable. Burglary Busted By Myspace

According to an article in WPTV News, a Florida Keys teen was arrested Sunday evening after a home that was burglarized was found to have a computer logged into the young man’s MySpace account, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office says a caretaker for the home on Sugarloaf Key reported the burglary when the caretaker was preparing to remove hurricane shutters from a door and saw someone sitting on the living room couch. Deputies arriving at the home found no one inside, but they did find a back window open, empty soda and food containers, and some marijuana on a coffee table.
