According to University of Florida’s newspaper The Alligator, a star player for the Gator football team was arrested for felony stalking earlier this week. Florida wide receiver Chris Rainey, 22, was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with aggravated stalking. He was arrested after sending a threatening text message to a young woman he had been dating on and off for the past three years, according to Anthony Chiang, an Alligator staff writer. The text message read, “Time to die bitch.” An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office representative has stated that Rainey has been released from custody after making his first court appearance on closed circuit television.
