According to an article in WPTV News, a Pennsylvania man is now facing drug charges after lighting up a Marijuana joint at a western Pennsylvania hospital to celebrate his child’s birth. Police are not identifying the father who lit up a joint, instead of a cigar, in a designated smoking area of Uniontown Hospital Tuesday morning. Uniontown police Sgt. Jonathan Grabiak told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that a nurse smelled the pot when she took a cigarette break in the same area. A hospital security guard then called police about 3:20 a.m. The man was released to a family member and made to leave the hospital. Kristin Webster, a public defender symbolized as the icon of hope for many jail inmates, was seen by police swerving along Indian River Drive, with her taillights out.She was pulled over and officers say she smelled of alcohol. Webster refused a roadside sobriety test. She was arrested for a misdemeanor DUI, and when officers took her into custody, they say she blew multiple Breathalyzer tests around 2.0 – more than twice the legal limit. According to Diana Moskovitz of the Miami Herald, almost 50 marijuana grow houses were shut down all across Miami-Dade County in mid-June. By initiative of the federal government’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program, officers on a one-day sweep seized more than 2,300 marijuana plants, $9,500 in cash, 126 Oxycodone pills, 11 grams of cocaine, seven firearms and one Audi, according to Miami-Dade police. After shutting down 49 hydroponic labs and making 42 arrests, the street value of the confiscated marijuana amounted to $9.4 million, police said. Another grow house was found and shut down in Vero Beach. This one housed 220 plants that had a street value of $2.4 million, only one person was arrested. Coast Guard Seizes 800 Pounds of Marijuana

The Coast Guard seized almost 800 pounds of marijuana around midnight Saturday from a 20-foot vessel traveling west from Bimini, Bahamas, according to a press release. After receiving reports of a suspicious vessel, crew members from the Coast Guard Cutter Diamondback located and boarded the craft to conduct an safety inspection. The marijuana was discovered in plain sight. Crew members detained two suspected smugglers from the vessel, and they offloaded 47 bricks of marijuana with an estimated street value of $725,000 at Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale. The suspects were transferred to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, and the drugs and vessel were transferred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Patrol officers in Fort Lauderdale.
