As a practicing Palm Beach County Criminal lawyer, I have the opportunity to read search warrant affidavits on a regular basis. Recently, some affidavits that I have read, show an increase use of thermal imaging, by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s helicopters, to detect suspected marijuana grow houses. The use of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s helicopter can view the home through a thermal imager, a passive, non-intrusive device that measures heat in the infrared range. A thermal imager detects minute differences in temperature on the surface of objects and displays that information visually. If a probationer violates Felony Probation, the term of incarceration is determined by the sentencing guideline score sheet. Hit and Run DUI Accidents and Consequences

A Wellington woman is accused of a hit and run DUI accident that occurred on January 17, 2014. According to Palm Beach County Sherriff’s arrest report, Jennifer Sorgie, who was driving a black Dodge SUV with almost double the legal BAC limit, plowed down a person and kept driving. Authorities found the accused woman in a parking lot, sitting in a driver’s seat with the engine still running, with extensive front end damage and a blown front driver’s side tire. Lake Worth deputies later connected Dodge SUV to a pedestrian hit and run crash with serious injuries.  When questioned, Jennifer Sorgie reported the amount of alcohol she drank and said that she remembers hitting a vehicle but not a person. A West Palm Beach resident, Kenneth Burroughs, is being held at Palm Beach county jail on weapons charges, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The incident reports Mr. Burroughs’ alleged confrontation with a bail bondsman occurred this past Friday. After being called to investigate the bondsman shooting, Sheriff’s detectives found three weapons — a shotgun, a .38-caliber pistol and a .38 special revolver — during a court-approved search of the North Haverhill Road residence of Kenneth Burroughs. According to Deputy Eric Davis, Mr. Burroughs admitted to sheriff’s officers that he owned the weapons. Burroughs was arrested early Saturday and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, shooting within a dwelling, and child neglect. Hernandez Falcon was arrested by Palm Beach County deputies for possessing a synthetic drug Methamphetamine and drug equipment. The arrest came as a response to a car crash at the 6000 block of Forest Hill Boulevard according to affidavit. Hernandez Falcon was found passed out in the passenger car seat and without pants. Mr. Falcon didn’t respond to deputy questions. When a car search was performed, deputies discovered a pair of blue shorts, a digital scale disguised as a digital camera, a glass pipe, and a camouflage-colored grinder in the shape of a grenade. Also found in the car’s center console wass a baggie containing methamphetamine. Jury selection begins today for former WPTV weatherman Rob Lopicola, facing juvenile sex charges. In July 2012, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Krista Marx set Lopicola’s bail at $130,000 and ordered he have no contact with the alleged victims in the case or anyone under the age of 18. She also ordered he have no access to the Internet or possess any device that allows him access to the Internet. The former WPTV Channel 5 weekend meteorologist faces charges including sexual activity with minors, lewd and lascivious battery, computer pornography and child exploitation. The charges stem from separate and multiple encounters Lopicola is accused of having with two teenagers between August 2010 and April 2011 after meeting them through Craigslist ads.
